California Proposition 65

California requires businesses to provide notice about certain chemicals under Proposition 65. When any candle burns, combustion produces trace compounds including carbon black. This is true of all candles, regardless of ingredients.

⚠ WARNING: Burning this candle can expose you to chemicals including carbon black (soot), which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

What This Means

Proposition 65 requires warnings for products that may expose consumers to one or more of over 900 listed chemicals. Carbon black is produced whenever organic material burns. This includes candles, fireplaces, gas stoves, and grilled food. The warning applies to the combustion process itself, not to the candle's ingredients.
